Your Itinerary: Day 1
DAY 1 Friday 4th November 2016
02:30 – depart Arden, by Johnsons coach, for London Luton Ai (meet at 02:15) 07:00 – Flight to Geneva from London Luton Airport (train airport to hostel) 11:00 – Arrive accommodation: Geneva Youth Hostel is our choice for school accommodation! Collect travel passes. 12:30 – Visit the History of Science Museum and admi collection of historical scientific apparatus. 13:30 – Pick up some souvenirs along Geneva's waterfron stroll around the beautiful Park Moynier to see the iconic Jet Lunch – buy own 15:30 – Enjoy a pleasant cruise on Lake Geneva - don’t for take pictures! – –

Your Itinerary: Day 2
DAY 2 Saturday 5th November 2016
Breakfast at the hotel 09:00 - CERN guided tour. This visit lasts three hours, and a resident expert will be an engaging and informative guide to research at CERN (no open-toed/high-heeled shoes permitted). 13:00 – Lunch at CERN restaurant. Please allow CHF15 per person, payable in cash (network with CERN scientists!) 14:00 – Visit the permanent exhibitions “Microcosm” to explore the mysteries of the universe and “Universe of Particles” to learn more about the Big Bang! 19:00 – Restaurant Edelweiss; enjoy a traditional Swiss fondue to the tune of a live folkloric band that’ll oompah throughout the dinner hour! Includes fondue, sausage, chips, ice-cream and a soft drink.

DAY 3 Sunday 6th February 2016
Breakfast at hotel 10:00 – Visit The Museum of Natural History: frogs, toads and indig birds, Lucy and the dinosaurs, the Arctic and the Antarctic. Don’t miss any mysteries! 12:30 – Explore Geneva’s picturesque Old Quarter. Lunch – buy own. 15:00 - With a collection that boasts over half a million objects, the M D’Art et D’Histoire is one of Switzerland’s most important museums. 19:50 – Check-in at Geneva. Dinner – at airport, buy own 21:50 - Flight back from Geneva to London Luton Airport. 22:30 - Arrive London Luton Airport – Johnsons coaches 01:00 (Monday) – Arrive back at Arden

- Microcosm:
- This exhibition gives you the key to understanding the secrets of
matter.
- Students you will explore the mysteries of the universe and
discover the massive apparatus used by physicists, the accelerators and detectors, and see how each part works!
- Universe of Particles:
- The purpose of the entirely
interactive exhibition is for students to confront the great questions of contemporary physics.
- It will take you on a journey all the
way back to the Big Bang. Find out more about the creation of the Universe!

What next?
- Make sure to remember passports and your EHIC card. You
will need your passports at CERN!
- You must wear appropriate footwear at CERN. Flip flops,
sandals and heels are not allowed.
- Remember to bring a camera for the boat cruise and also
for CERN as you are allowed to take pictures!
- Take some Swiss Francs for lunches and for any souvenirs.
- Each student allowed 1 piece of hand luggage for the flight.
- Toiletries must be packed in a transparent plastic
bag and not exceed 100ml.
- There is no weight limit for the cabin bag but it must
be no bigger than 50 X 40 X 20cm.
SUMMARY
- Bring a towel – remember only hand luggage so not a bath sheet!
- Bring a Swiss adaptor plug (different to European ones)
- Students will need spending money to buy lunch each day (we
suggest approx. £10-£15 minimum (of Swiss Francs) per day for
- lunch. Also, money for dinner on Sunday evening and also for
souvenirs and any other drinks/snacks other than those provided.
- Remember to bring any medication needed for the trip. Students
should carry their own medication – please consider hand luggage restrictions.
