The Antonio de Noli Academic Society (for brevity, ADENOLIAS) is an international and
interdisciplinary scientific-research activity formed by scholars and institutions with cultural interest or academic production pursuing: Biographical, geographic-historical, naval-historical, archaeological, social-anthropological, and sociological studies around the discoveries of Antonio de Noli - the Genoese navigator with family origins in the ancient Noli - and the societies and institutions which ensued in the aftermath of the discoveries in which he participated. This activity is solely scientific, educational and cultural purposes and it is devoid of pecuniary intent. By manifestly choosing the scientific perspective, the society wishes to emphasize the fact-oriented character of the research that members of the society conduct and promote.
Specific aims of the society are
- 1. To conduct and promote research on historic and biographic aspects around the
Genoese navigator Antonio de Noli, a discoverer of Cape Verde Islands. Emphasis will be done in those themes which deserve further historic clarification or have raised controversy in the absence of facts or in their interpretation.
- 2. To conduct and promote research on the impact the discoveries of navigator de
Noli and his Italian counterparts in the XV century had on the archipelago of Cape Verde and other territories, for Europe, and for the New World.
