  • Tips for a successful experience in the Lancer Nation:

1. Get INVOLVED! High school is what you make it. We highly recommended that you join some clubs, participate in athletics, or attend events. Start by talking to coaches and club sponsors tonight! 2. Utilize Infinite Campus. This program is a great tool for both students and parents to check grades and receive notifications regarding academic progress. 3. Sign up for 20Alerts. As soon as your son/daughter is enrolled, you can start receiving announcements regarding important information and upcoming events. 4. Ask for help. Liberty High School prides itself on supporting our parents and students. Contact teachers, counselors, and administrators with any questions at any time.

CHOICE

A choice application is NOT required for

  • Families who wish to remain in their current school
  • f attendance.
  • In-district families going from elementary to middle

school or middle school to high school. They will automatically transfer to their feeder system middle

  • r high school.
  • Any out-of-district student already enrolled and

attending an Academy District 20 school. You DO NOT need to complete a choice application TO REMAIN IN YOUR CURRENT SCHOOL.

WHO HAS TO “CHOICE”?

A choice application IS REQUIRED for

  • any out-of-district student requesting a move to

another school; or,

  • any out-of-district student moving to the next level

(from elementary school to middle school, or middle school to high school); or,

  • any out-of-district student applying for the first time

(for this child) to an Academy District 20 school.

MIDDLE SCHOOL COURSES

  • If you passed a year of a World Language, all of

Algebra 1 and/or all of Geometry and/or all of Algebra 2 at the middle school, you MAY repeat the course at the high school to ensure mastery.

  • These courses taken in middle school may be taken

again at the high school for credit.

  • Courses taken in high school may not be repeated

for credit.

* Students will still have to take 6 math credits in high school and 2 core electives if these requirements were met in middle school.

BIOLOGY N H Course 132015 A & B Grade: 9 - 10, two credits (science) Description: Biology provides crucial background in the life sciences

  • arena. Topics covered include basic cell structure, function, and

processes, genetics, microbiology, evolutionary concepts and trends, taxonomy of plants and animals, basic vertebrate and invertebrate biology, basic ecology, and human biology. This course focuses on the world around us through a lab component.

MULTI-YEAR ACADEMIC PLANNER (MYAP)

  • The Academic Planner is used to monitor if students have

met all requirements for graduation and addresses four- year planning required by the state of Colorado.

  • This will directly align to their Individual Career and

Academic Plan (ICAP).

  • Students will have the opportunity to update their four-

year plan each year.

  • Parents will be able to view their student’s Academic Plan

through the parent portal; however, they will not be able to make changes.

  • Incoming 9th grade students
  • You will ONLY select courses for your freshman year at LHS.

Use your grade level registration worksheet as a reference. You will complete the rest of your four-year Academic Plan with your grade level counselor in the upcoming years.

  • Miss Hoyle and Mrs. Kroeker will be visiting Timberview

Middle School on January 28th, 29th, and 30th to walk you through the registration process and answer questions.

  • Choice students
  • Once you are officially accepted to and enrolled in Liberty High

School, your grade level counselor will contact you to set up your schedule.

Step 4: Students will select courses in their grade level column only. Please refer to your grade level registration worksheet. To view course descriptions, click on the “Search the Course Catalog” drop down search bar located on the top of the page.

ACADEMIC PLANNER REMINDERS

  • When choosing electives, pay attention to

prerequisites and course fees. Refer to the LHS Course Guide for additional information.

  • You should have a total of 16 credits + 4
  • alternates. However, if you selected a Guided

Study Hall for ½ credit or an Attendance Waiver for no credit, your total credits will not add up to 16 in the Academic Planner. This is acceptable if you have chosen one of those options.

IMPORTANT DATES

January 28th – February 18th

  • The Academic Planner will be open from January

28th—February 18th.

  • If students do not select their own classes, classes

will be selected for them based on graduation requirements and availability.

  • In the fall, changes will only be made if there is

an academic misplacement.
