Individual recognition

  • The main value of Youthpass: aid to reflection and self-assessment
  • f project participants.

– widens young people’s understanding and competences of learning – broadens the view of what they learned during the project and thereby raises self-confidence – helped to understand better what young people would like to learn – more responsibility for their learning – Better awareness of youth workers about their role as facilitators

  • f learning processes

Some outcomes of the YP Impact Study (2013)

The framework of the eight Key competences – generally perceived as a useful support for reflection and description of the learning outcomes – significance of social skills especially pointed out – can at the same time appear as abstract and complex for some participants

Validation of non-formal and informal learning

  • Types of recognition instruments in the youth work field

– Portfolio approaches – Confirmation of participation and engangment – Competence tools – Webbased solutions – Jobmarket focus – …. slide-20
SLIDE 20

Validation of non-formal and informal learning

Challenges for the youth work field

  • Validation procedure steps: step 1, step 2 and partly step 3

experiences

  • Design of processes and procedures and accessibility: ‚youth

work appropriate‘ – ‚young people needs oriented‘?

  • Youth work is a non-institutionalised sector: recognition by other

sectors?

  • Competence focus is appropriate for youth work field, but resistance

in the field – immidiately linked to neo-liberal thinking, formalisation…

Challenges for Youthpass implementation

  • Quality of the implementation
  • Perception of the Youthpass certificate
  • „Digitalisation“
  • Learning process facilitaton in youth worker education &
