Lesson 11 Grammar: Singular 1st/2nd Declension Adjectives

  • Latin nouns almost always have only one gender that never changes, but since adjectives

describe or modify nouns, an adjective must assume the gender of the noun it modifies. This is why there are 3 columns. Can you identify them?

Case Singular Masculine Feminine Neuter Nominative bonus bona bonum Genitive boni bonae boni Dative bono bonae bono Accusative bonum bonam bonum Ablative bono bonā bono

In Latin, adjectives may be written before or after the nouns, as they are in the exercises. The adjectives much match its noun in gender, number, and case (noun-adjective agreement rule)
