Purpose
Offer high school credit to 8th graders
upon the completion of the Algebra 1 Honors course.
Extend opportunities for advanced
math or non-math courses in future high school years.
Earning High School Credit
In order for the student to earn high school credit and have the
course grade calculated into their high school GPA he/she must have a:
- Minimum of 70% earned for a course grade
Any student not reaching the goal will not receive high school
credit for Algebra 1 Honors and will not have the course grade calculated into the student’s high school GPA.
Since the course taught with an Honors Curriculum, the grade
will be weighted.
Future Mathematics Courses
The table below is a general guideline for a student’s future
enrollment based on achievement in the 8th grade Algebra 1 course.
This table serves only as a guideline for future course placement and
does not guarantee that a student will be placed into the freshman year course associated with the 8th Grade Algebra I course grade. Teacher recommendations and other anecdotal information may be utilized to more accurately place a student in subsequent mathematics courses.
Student Grade Portal
Parents will be able to access their child’s
grades through PowerSchool, the online grading portal.
Each student and parent will be given login
access so they can track the progress of their students.
Discipline Policies
While we do not expect there to be any discipline
problems, please note the following interventions/outcomes for discipline:
Cheating – Zero for the assignment/test with no
possibility for make-up; Phone call to parents and home
- school. A second occurrence will result in the student
being dropped from the class.
Misbehavior – Phone call to parents and home
- school. Persistent issues will be reported to the
home school’s administrator in order for him/her to determine the consequences. If misbehavior continues, the student may be dropped from the class.
All student absences will need to be reported to the
LPHS Attendance Office.
(Only applicable for in-person learning)
All students will attend class based on the LPHS
- Calendar. Students will also take semester exams
based on this calendar.
(Only applicable for in-person learning)
If the student’s home school is not in session, the
student will still attend Algebra (remotely) at LPHS.
