  2. What is a YAC? YAC is the Youth Advisory Committee, a youth grantmaking body of the Lapeer County Community Foundation. Members are comprised of students in 7th -12th grades throughout Lapeer County which includes Almont, Dryden, Imlay City, Lapeer, North Branch and Chatfield Schools.

Grants we have given since May 2013 ● North Branch Elementary- Reading Project ● Sent two visually impaired children to Lions Bear Lake Camp ● Dreams & Wings-Special needs kids to fly in airplanes with their family ● Water & Woods BSA-100 boys to attend program in Imlay City and Lapeer ● Imlay City Middle School-Lego Mindstorms Robotics Kit ● Murphy Elementary-10 iPads ● Rolland-Warner Middle School-Links Program ● Chatfield School-10 iPads ● NEMCA Headstart Program-Purchase of tote bags with family health items ● Dryden High School- Project Graduation ● Zemmer Middle School-Anti-bullying Program ● Murphy Elementary-Links to attend Lions Bear Lake Camp ● Lynch Elementary-Links Program at Lapeer Rec Center ● North Branch Middle School-Lego Mindstorm Robotics kit ● Lapeer Community Schools-New Athletic Complex

  8. Service Projects

  9. Backpacks Each year we purchase backpacks for needy children in Lapeer County. The YAC stuff the backpacks with school supplies provided by Love Inc. This is one of our biggest service projects reaching approximately 600 students each year.

  11. Shopping at Meijer in Lapeer for the two families we adopted through Holiday Depot. l

  12. Ringing Bells for Salvation Army at Walmart-Lapeer

  13. Bowl-a-thon for Mentors for Kids

  15. YAC Collected over 300 books for The Family Literacy Center.

  16. Extreme Couponing All food and supplies were donated to the Food Pantry at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapeer.

  17. These kids are learning about philanthropy at a young age. If they can make this big of an impact now, just think of what they will do as they become adults. They are giving of their time, talent and treasure. In a time where teenage kids often find themselves in trouble, isn’t it refreshing to see these kids doing great things for our community? For Good, For Ever!
