Qualifications?

  • LA Coach for credits

▫ Course completed with a grade of A- or better ▫ Schedule open during the class meeting time for the course ▫ Additional considerations:

– Professionalism – Writing ability – Communication skills – Passion

  • Paid LA Grader

▫ Need to fullfill all of the LA Coach requirements from the left ▫ Additionally, student needs to have a high GPA (3.3 or higher), and have senior (and in some cases junior) standing

Two Options

(Note: Neither case guarantees a position)

Mutual Verbal Agreement General Pool

  • Before the application is

submitted, instructor and student discuss possible working relationship

  • Student and instructor reach

verbal agreement on the number of hours and the section of the course that the student should apply for

  • Both agree to request each
  • ther, making this a “matched”

application with a mutual verbal agreement

  • When a student has not

discussed with any instructors a possible placement in a particular course, student submits application to the general pool

  • Qualified students will be

assigned where needed (NOTE: Students who submit matched applications have a higher placement rate.)

  • Orientation – Sunday immediately before classes

start, usually 1:30 – 5:30 p.m.

  • IST 297B (LA Prep Course)

▫ First 7 Fridays for 75 min. (3:35 – 4:50 p.m.) ▫ 3 Credits

– 1 credit class – 2 credits of LA work (~ 5 - 10 hours / week) – IST Support of Option – SRA Support of Option
