Tree Giveaway Best Practices

1. Determine number of trees to give away 2. Determine funding sources 3. Select a giveaway location: 4. Create an online registration form 5. Reserve a percentage of trees for walk-up recipients – bring a registration form for the walk-ins to capture their location data and contact info 6. Have a list of the pre-registrants and their preferred trees to expedite 7. Have several binders of tree choices for people to look through and have people on hand who can talk through the choices knowledgeably 8. Distribute planting and tree care information, stakes, ties, mulch etc as needed and as possible 9. Good ideas

  • 10. Handout
  • 11. Follow up via email – remind those who received the tree to be sure they have planted it
