Call to Worship
(our ancient writings usher us into this ritual)
Why do we worship? Daniel 7:13-14 As I watched in the night visions I saw one like the Son of Man, Coming on the clouds of heaven. And He came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before Him. To the Son of Man was given by the Ancient of Days: Dominion and glory and kingship, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, His kingship is one that will never be destroyed.

The Lord be with you And also with you. Lifu up your hearts We lifu them up to God.

Psalm 37:1-11 Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.
SLIDE 7
Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way,
- ver the man who carries out evil devices!
Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil. For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land. In just a little while, the wicked will be no more; though you look carefully at his place, he will not be there. But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace.

Confession
(we approach God, repenting from sin)
Heidelberg Catechism, Questions 47-48
- 47. Q. But isn’t Christ with us until the end of the world, as he promised us?
- A. Christ is true human and true God. In his human nature Christ is not
now on earth; but in his divinity, majesty, grace, and Spirit he is never absent from us.
- 48. Q. If his humanity is not present wherever his divinity is, then aren’t the two
natures of Christ separated from each other?
- A. Certainly not. Since divinity is not limited and is present everywhere,
Christ’s divinity is surely beyond the bounds of the humanity that has been taken on, but at the same time his divinity is in and remains personally united to his humanity.

Hebrews 4:12-13 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit,
- f joints and of marrow,
and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Dear Father, Like Adam & Eve in the garden, we try to hide from you and your sanctifying
- work. We act as if you do not see our sins, we worry as if you are not in
control, and we neglect the reading of your Word. Forgive us for clinging to
- ur brokenness! Help us to seek your face in the Scripture, and cause it to
change us in our deepest, darkest parts through the power of the Holy Spirit. Expose our wickedness so that we can turn to you for forgiveness and grace. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen. Silence

Let us bless the Lord! Praise Him with highest praise! What sort of church are we seeking God to make us? Acts 2:42-45 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.

Sermon (we hear from God)
Ephesians 2:1-9
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gifu of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
SLIDE 33
Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

We believe in God the Father Almighty Maker of heaven and earth And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit Born of the virgin Mary Suffered under Pontius Pilate Was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell The third day He rose again from the dead He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty From there He shall come to judge the living and the dead We believe in the Holy Spirit The holy catholic church: the communion of saints The forgiveness of sins The resurrection of the body And the life everlasting. Response / Sending Trust and Obey When we walk with the Lord In the light of His Word What a glory He sheds on our way While we do His good will He abides with us still And with all who will trust and obey Trust and obey For there’s no other way To be happy in Jesus But to trust and obey Not a shadow can rise Not a cloud in the skies But His smile quickly drives it away Not a doubt nor a fear Not a sigh nor a tear Can abide while we trust and obey Trust and obey For there’s no other way To be happy in Jesus But to trust and obey
SLIDE 38
Then in fellowship sweet We will sit at His feet Or we’ll walk by His side in the way What He says we will do Where He sends we will go Never fear only trust and obey Trust and obey For there’s no other way To be happy in Jesus But to trust and obey Trust and obey For there’s no other way To be happy in Jesus But to trust and obey
