Cheers, Filip

ORANGE BOWL 2010

USTA Website

Also advancing to the Boys’ 18s singles semifinals were unseeded Alexios Halebian (Glendale, Calif.), No. 9 George Morgan of Great Britain and No. 7 Joris De Loore of Belgium, who upended tournament favorite Dominic Thiem. Though he won two of the first five games played in the second set, Thiem retried from the match, thus ending his 15-match win streak on the ITF Junior Circuit.

On the other side of the net, De Loore was hitting powerfully and moving smoothly. He’s the

  • nly Boys’ 18s semifinalist yet to drop a set at the Dunlop Orange Bowl.

"I’m trying to keep my level up," said De Loore. "I feel good physically and I train hard on that, which is very important if you are big."

BRADENTON - The competition turned steeper and emotions ran deeper Friday as singles matches reached the quarterfinal round in the ninth day of the Eddie Herr International Junior Tennis Championships at IMG Academies.

Joris de Loore, who trains in Antwerp, Belgium, defeated Croatia's Mate Pavic, the tournament's top seed in the Boys 18-Under division, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4 in the tiebreaker) in a match that lasted in excess of three hours. "The competition is heavier now," said de Loore, the No. 6 seed in his age group. "The earlier rounds before were not easy, but the quarterfinals is a round where you must be steady." After failing on five match points, Pavic was shouting at the linesman and gesturing wildly as the match concluded. "I just tried to keep the ball in," de Loore said with a shrug. "I didn't make many mistakes."

Interview with Reginald Willems on 20-12-2010 , former Davis Cup Captain .

JORIS DE LOORE OUSTS ROBERTO BAENA IN SECOND ROUND OF BOYS’ SINGLES – WIMBLEDON CHAMPIONSHIPS 2011

An unexpected outcome in Boys’ singles matchup at Wimbledon Championships was witnessed when the unseeded Belgian, Joris De Loore, defeated the sixth seed Spaniard, Roberto Carballes Baena in the second round of the draws. Being played at Court 11 of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, London, England, the three-set thriller featured some high quality boys’ tennis from the two contestants. The Belgian took one hour and forty seven minutes to conclude victory at 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, to qualify for the third round of the Grand Slam tournament. The contest was dominated by Baena in the initial stages but a dramatic turnaround from the unseeded Belgian took the following two sets away from his opponent to eject him out

  • f the mega event. The Spaniard failed to sustain the winning momentum he generated by

winning the opener and submitted two consecutive sets to De Loore to let him away with an easy victory. The Belgium showed his tremendous abilities under extreme pressure from the

  • pponent to recover from one-set deficit and then went on to win the contest later. His below

par first serve of just 53 per cent earned him 31 out of 35 points in the match to give him the competitive advantage in the matchup against the sixth seed. The Spanish cashed in two out of three break opportunities in the contest, while giving 12 chances to break serve to De Loore, who converted two of the break points en route to

  • victory. 21 unforced errors were reported by the Belgian in the game, which also include five

double faults, but he belted 34 thudding winners as well to compensate for them. The opening set took off with the sixth seed Spaniard in a ballistic mood, breaking the Belgian’s serve two times and kept pushing his opponent out of the game. De Loore posed minimum resistance in the opener and frittered away four break opportunities with conversions to lose the first set at 1-6. It appeared from the opening set that Baena will wrap up a straight sets victory in the second set but an unbelievable recovery from De Loore surprised everyone. The Belgian registered his first serve break of the day in the second set and then again in the third to bag victory at 6-4, 6-4. De Loore made it into the third round of the tournament, where he will face Sean Berman of the United States for a berth in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon.

JORIS DE LOORE DROWNS SEAN BERMAN TO REACH BOYS’ SINGLES QUARTERFINAL – WIMBLEDON CHAMPIONSHIPS 2011

(

Belgian domination continued in the Boys’ singles at the Wimbledon Championships, with Joris De Loore winning his third round encounter against Sean Berman of the United States on Wednesday afternoon. The contest was played on Court 6 of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, London, England, with De Loore qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam event after a stiff fight with the American. The competition appeared pretty one sided at the start but it gathered up pace in the later parts, ending with a nail biting finish. The Belgian took hold of the game by bagging the

  • pening set early and it looked as if he will cruise through the next set with ease to dispose
  • f Berman. The American hung in the second set for 48 minutes, giving some real tough time

to Loore but eventually fell in the tie breaker round to end his voyage at the Wimbledon Championships. Despite of a below par first serve of merely 52 per cent, De Loore secured 33 out of 38 first serve points and cracked in 16 thudding aces en route to victory. Only one serve break was seen in the entire contest and it came from the Belgian in the opening set of the matchup. Berman had four break opportunities on four different occasions in the match but his errant stroke play never allowed him to cash in even a single one of them. Both boys conceded 25 unforced errors each in the contest but DeLoore compensated for it by belting 35 winners, with Berman following him with only 23 winners. The Belgian made frequent forays to the net to fire some elegant cross-court winners to put his opponent under pressure. 14 out of 21 times Loore was successful in his net approaches, continuing with his aggressive style of play against the bleak American

  • pponent.

Both players remained tentative at the beginning of the opener but De Loore finally made the first move in the fifth game to register the only serve break of the match. After bagging the

  • pening set 6-4, the Belgian faced some serious resistance from his opponent in the

following set. Berman held his serve in all games to drag the game in to a tie breaker round but failed to sustain the momentum and eventually submitted the match to De Loore at 6- 7(3). The Belgian will take on the 16th seed Australian, Luke Saville, in the quarter-final of the tournament to get a place in the final four.
