Bulgaria, officially the Republic of Bulgaria, is a country in Southeast Europe. The capital and largest city is Sofia. Other major cities are Plovdiv, Varna and Burgas. With a territory of 110,994 square kilometers, Bulgaria is Europe's 16th- largest country.

Early years

In 681 AD the Bulgars found the First Bulgarian Empire which dominated most of the Balkans.

Simeon I the Great ruled Bulgaria from 893 to 927, during the First Bulgarian Empire. Simeon's successful wars led Bulgaria to its greatest territorial expansion ever, making it the most powerful state in Eastern Europe. His reign was also known as The Golden Age of Bulgarian culture.

Liberation of f Bulgaria

In Bulgarian historiography, the liberation of Bulgaria refers to those events of the Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878) that led to the re- establishment of the Bulgarian state under the Treaty of San Stefano on 3rd of March 1878 – our National Day. On 6th September 1885, Eastern Rumelia became part of the Principality of Bulgaria after a bloodless unification.

The Rose Valley is a region in Bulgaria. The valley is famous for its rose-growing industry which has been cultivated there for centuries. It produces most of the world's rose oil per capita. Bansko ski resort is the best winter resort in Bulgaria with the longest ski runs and the richest cultural history. The town of Bansko is situated at the foot of the Pirin mountain in the south-western Bulgaria.
