Marine stations placed near potential pollution sources.

  • Developed areas and marinas
  • Streams and drainages
  • Livestock access to water
  • Areas with limited flushing
  • Sample for adverse or worse case conditions to be protective of human health

Sample each station 6 – 12 times per year. A minimum of 30 samples per station used for calculation. Fecal coliform (FC) standard is stringent.

  • ≤ 14 FC/100 mL Geometric mean
  • ≤ 43 FC/100 mL – Estimated 90th percentile
  • 90% of data are below this number, 10% are above.
  • Formula uses logs of individual results and standard deviation of dataset.
