  1. Jasper Slough Water Quality Project Mrs. Patterson’s 7th Grade Science Class Agnes Stewart Middle School

  2. Water Temperature (celsius) Acceptable Range: 7.2-15.6 C Acceptable Range: 7.2 - 15.6 C Did our data meet the criteria? Did our data meet the criteria? The water temperature of the Jasper Slough was within the target range throughout the year.

  3. pH Acceptable Range: 6.5-8.5 Did our data meet the criteria? Our results were in the acceptable range, so aquatic life can live in the Jasper Slough.

  4. Conductivity (µS/cm) Acceptable Range: <150 Did our data meet the criteria? Our data met criteria 1 out of the 5 times we measured. Overall conductivity in the Jasper Slough is too high.

  5. Turbidity (NTUs) Acceptable Range: <10 Did our data meet the criteria? Overall the turbidity is too high. It was only below 10 NTU 2 out of the 5 times we measured this parameter.

  6. Dissolved Oxygen (mg/L) Acceptable Range: ≥10 mg/L Did our data meet the criteria? The data did not meet the criteria. Dissolved Oxygen (DO) is good when it’s equal to or greater than 10. Out of the five test none of them reached 10.

  7. Ammonia (mg/L) Acceptable Range: 0.1mg/L Did our data meet the criteria? No, ammonia was slightly higher than the target all year. It averaged between 0.14 - 0.18 mg/L which is higher than the acceptable range of 0.1mg/L.

  8. Nitrates (mg/L) Acceptable Range: >10 mg/L Our data did meet the criteria because all of our results were less than 10 mg/L

  9. Nitrites Acceptable Range: 0.1mg/L Did our data meet the criteria? Our tests show that nitrites are acceptable because none were above 0.1 mg/L.

  10. Phosphates (mg/L) Acceptable Range: 0.1 mg/L Did our data meet the criteria? No, the phosphates level is too high which will result in too much algae, which leads to not enough oxygen for water life.
