  2. PCMS Character Traits EPIC 1.0 is created to provide time for teachers and students to discuss and learn about the six student character traits that are most valued at PCMS. Leaders – Critical Thinkers – Accountable – Effective Communicators – Accepting – Hardworking

  3. What are the 6 student character traits? Park Crest students are: 1) Leaders 2) Critical Thinkers 3) Accountable 4) Effective Communicators 5) Accepting 6) Hardworking

  4. Why do we spend time talking about character traits? At Park Crest Middle School we believe that it is just as important to be a good person (having character) as it is to be a good student (academics & extra curricular)

  5. Let’s begin! Students, please take out your agenda and something to write with. This is all you will need for today’s EPIC 1.0 lesson.

  6. Lets remember the 1 st semester EPIC lessons Quick Reflection Activity: Using your agenda as a guide, tell another student what are the four character traits we have learned about thus far this school year? (hint: you can use page 27, 37, 49, and 59)

  7. + 2 Special Extra Topics THE BIG EVENT : Forms Due ASAP! 1. Complete the form. (teachers hand each student their form or a blank form) Signing the Resolution! 2. Have a parent/ guardian sign the form. 3. Turn the form into the turn in box located in the main hall.

  8. Accountable We will begin todays lesson on pages 68 & 69 titled Accountable. Reminder, the Character Trait pages are comprised of these components: Definition • Accountable is • Scenario • Reflection • SMART Goal •

  9. Accountable As a class complete these tasks: 1. Have one student read the definition out loud. 2. With a partner discuss your own definition and put it in the “Accountable is:” circle. 3. Have one student read the scenario out loud. 4. Discuss the scenario and answer the question as a class. 5. With a new partner reflect on what it means to be accountable and why it is an important piece of the puzzle to make PCMS a Gold Medal campus.

  12. • Agendas out while moving in the hallway • Show agenda to teacher before you enter the room • Be on time to EPIC 2.0! • Go to assigned room if you have a signature • Advocate for help and signatures if you are struggling • Select at least 3 rooms on your choice sheet, so if your first room is closed you have choices • Students unable to attend EPIC for tutoring due to intervention will need to attend after school tutoring
