 Inform al Settlem ent Network (ISN)

 Bottom-up agglomeration of more than 600

settlements across the country

 Mobilises communities around issue-based

upgrading agenda and develops capacity

 Active in five major metropolitan areas as well as

a number of smaller municipalities

 Federation of the Urban and Rural Poor

(FEDUP)

 National network of 800+ woman-led savings

schemes

 Built more than 15,000 houses since 1991  Collective action towards policy change, eg “People’s  Housing Process”

Centre (CORC)

 Provides a platform for information exchange and

technical support to ISN and FEDUP

 Supports ISN and FEDUP in influencing resource

 A formal bridging finance institution providing

loans and grants towards community-initiatives

 Pre-financing of EPHP projects but also runs CUFF

which funds in-situ upgrading projects in informal settlements
