Deafblindness – A Unique Disability

Deafblindness is a complex disability that combines varying degrees

• f both hearing and visual impairment, making it unique to each

individual. All individuals who are deafblind experience challenges with communication and mobility and many have additional physical disabilities and medical issues as well. Even with this challenging disability, our clients have the capacity to build their life skills, gain independence and contribute to the greater community with the support of specially trained Intervenors and specialized housing that caters to their needs.

Founded in 1989, DeafBlind Ontario Services is the largest not-for- profit organization in Ontario providing Intervenor, residential and

• ther specialized services to adults who are deafblind.

With residential locations and community services programs across the province, our services extend into a wide range of communities in Ontario, including London. We have been fortunate to be part of 2 AHP (Affordable Housing Program) builds in Georgina, and 3 IAH (Investment in Affordable Housing) builds in Georgina, London and Ayr.
