  • Selection Mark is rated out of 100
  • A selection criteria threshold is usually between 73 and

77 out of 100

  • A selection pool is then generated
  • A random selection process is applied to the pool
  • On April 9th, 2020 after 3pm you will be informed:
  • Applicant did not make the pool
  • Applicant is in the pool will either receive a waitlist

number or offer

slide-55
SLIDE 55

How the Waitlist Works

We have 84 spots to fill on the first round of offers, we will send out an email to the first 84 students that have been selected from the random selection process. If on April 17th at 3pm we have had 78 acceptances, then on April 18th at 3pm we would send out an email to the first 6 students on their waitlist. At the end of the second offers we received acceptances from 3 students, then they would still have 3 spots available that would be offered to the next 3 on the waitlist.

slide-56
SLIDE 56

Accepting an Offer

Accepting an offer respond and pay following the instruction in the email no later than 3 p.m. on April 16, 2020 Not accepting an offer, click decline

  • r do not respond
slide-57
SLIDE 57

Second Round Offers

Second round acceptance offers issued sent on April 17, 2020 at 3 p.m. Respond no later than 3 p.m. on April 24, 2020. This is

  • nly to those waitlisted only
slide-58
SLIDE 58

Subsequent Offers After 3 p.m. on April 24, 2020

  • ffers will be made until all

positions are filled or until June 26th

slide-59
SLIDE 59

Important Consideration

Once you accept an offer you are removed from the application system for all RLCP. Scenario: If in the first round you are waitlisted for IB and you are offered and accept IBT you are removed from the IB waitlist. Waitlist numbers are impacted by other programs for instance if number 2 on the IBT waitlist accepts an offer to Sci-Tech and 3 accepts an offer to IB and 5 accepts AIM then the wait list will no longer include them 1,4,6

slide-60

Commonly Asked Questions

Why do parents have to pay for bussing? – It is a regional learning choice program – You are choosing to send your student to the program instead of the neighbourhood school How do I prepare for the assessment? – Understand the norms of collaboration and 4 C’s of 21st Century Learning – Review Grade 4/5 Math – Review Paragraph writing

slide-69
SLIDE 69

Commonly Asked Questions

Will the Labour Action impact the process? If the Labour Action continues the probability of cancelling the Performance Night on February 20th, 2020

  • exists. This happened once before in 2013. We will keep you informed of

any changes, please ensure you use an email address you regularly check when registering. What if the Term 1 2020 Report Cards are impacted by the Labour Action? SLIDE 70

Commonly Asked Questions

I did not receive an email notification when I registered and paid? Wait 24 hours, check your SPAM and junk folders and then email us to verify. How do I accept an offer or decline an offer? You will have t log back into the system therefore when you register ensure you keep your password and know which email you used.

slide-71
SLIDE 71

Advice

Register early incase there are issues with the process. IBT is not for every student and learning style, students need to be comfortable working in groups and communicating. If your student prefers to work as an individual it may not be the ideal program. Although it is not a guarantee for entry into a Grade 9 RLCP. WP IBT is a good stepping stone, the majority of our graduates often chose to continue in RLCP programs in Grade 9. Many will chose IBT but it is not uncommon for students to chose IB, AP, Sci-Tech or Arts RLCP in Grade 9.
