Structure and responsibilities

NHS England

NHSE has a specific role to commission immunisations and to hold to account providers to ensure that they deliver the contracts that have been agreed.

GP Practices

Commissioned by NHSE via an Enhanced Service to implement vaccination programme. This ES is agreed between NHSE and the BMA General Practitioners Committee (GPC)

NHS Enfield CCG

The CCG is member organisation comprised

  • f GP Practices, in the context of

immunisations the role is to offer support and guidance only. Cannot performance manage.

Public Health England

Direct commissioning of public health services by NHSE is based on national service specifications that have been produced by PHE and agreed with NHSE.

Department for Health & Social Care

DHSC is the overall steward of the public health commissioning system.

Public Health England

PHE provides DHSC with expert evidence and advice.

  • Assigned immunisations lead to support practices with their

call/recall campaigns.

  • Immunisations training organised for GPNs and presented at

Practice Nurse forum.

  • ‘Vaccine hesitancy and how to deal with it’ workshop offered

to all clinical staff working in GP practices and other clinical professionals working in Enfield.

  • Updated CCG intranet with resources and guidance to

facilitate increased immunisation coverage.

  • Regular communication with practices/PCNs to ensure that

immunisations remain at the forefront of their priorities including presenting at Protected Learning Time (PLT) sessions for GPs.

  • Offering training around IT solutions such as text message

invites and population reporting.

  • Presentation on immunisations at the CCG’s Public & Patient

Engagement event.
