In 1933 the architect Armando Melis de Villa (1889-1961) and the engineer Giovanni Bernocco sign the highest residential building project in Turin, created as part of the reconstruction of the new Via Roma. Originally intended to house the headquarters of the National Fascist Party, the tower was completely acquired by Royal Mutual Insurance Society (which financed the construction) and destined to luxury residences and offices.

Historical notes:

The square was designed as a regular arcaded square in front of the Duke’s Palace at the end of the 16th century. The present design is the outcome of many interventions designed by Benedetto Alfieri in the second half of the 18th century. Defined as a regular arcaded square, it is part of a larger project by the architect and engineer Ascanio Vitozzi (1539-1615), elaborated for the Duke’s Palace and the Via Nuova (now Via Roma). By the end of 17th century. Piazza Castello is the heart of the baroque capital city.
