Session Goals Articulate the timeline that is required for a session to be an approved CEU session. (ADV) Identify the 4 areas of job analysis as it relates for CTRS’s in Canada. (ORG) List and explain and the 4 sections of the call for papers. (ORG)
Purpose of the NCTRC Pre-approval Process CEU opportunities are approved by ATRA and NCTRC prior to attendance. Sessions are related to the NCTRC Job Analysis & are appropriate for continuing competence. Improve service provision delivered to consumers Improve opportunities for CEU offerings specific to NCTRC specialty certification
Special Note ATRA does not provide CEUs for a CE opportunity that is primarily activity based or experiential in nature, in which a specific activity or modality is taught. You may submit a session for review if at least 50% of the session relates to learning about the rationale, supporting research evidence, therapeutic process, and/or anticipated client outcomes

The description needs to be clear that Recreation Therapists would have a reason for attending the session. 3. Imagine that if someone in your worksite picked up the description it would be clear that the session was for the Recreation Therapist s on your work site.

Learning Outcomes Provide measureable learning outcomes for each session. Learning Outcomes Complete a phrase describing what delegates should know and/or be able to do by the end of the session. Start with an action verb that specifies the depth of learning expected followed by a statement describing the knowledge and abilities to be demonstrated, and finally a statement (or statements) to provide context within the discipline. Be concise, direct and clearly stated. Verbs related to recalling, understanding, applying, analyzing and evaluating are desirable Be grounded within the discipline, and consistent with disciplinary language, norms and standards.
Learning Outcomes Acceptable Upon completion of the session participants will be able to: 1. identify three benefits of performing evidence –based TR practice. 2. provide an example of a program that meets dementia practice guidelines.

NCTRC Job Analysis • Foundational Knowledge (FKW) – This relates to the basic RT models and theories as well as practice streams Therapist’s work. • Practice of TR/RT (PTR) – This relates to the work we do with the patients we see on a day to day basis . – How the APIE model of practice is affected • Organization of TR/RT (ORG) – How does this affect the day to day work we do in getting our jobs done. This can relate to the “stuff “ we do along side of meeting and being with our patients. • Advancement of the Profession (ADV) – Goals related to how your session demonstrate an advancement of the profession – How will this change the delivery of the service.

Session Outline Why is this part of the application process? Participation less than 50% what does this mean if I want to have an interactive session? If I have indicated earlier an interactive session does this mean I will not be approved? Session outline needs to tie into how long each learning objective will be covered and how you will measure that the objectives are met during the session. .
