Hong Kong International Airport - Strategy for handling future traffic growth. With the significant drop in overall airport operations, parking is the limiting factor for business aviation at HKIA at the moment.

slide-20
SLIDE 20

HKIA Operational Updates - Chris Barrow (HKBAC) 1. Aircraft flight movement remains low however seeing a slight improvement. 2. Some local flights and repatriation flights have been ongoing. 3. No slot issues however parking acceptance is low due to no space available on ground in general. 4. Parking congestion still applicable as per previous months. The parking is split amongst HKBAC Apron, Remote Bay Stands and Hangars across the airfield. 4 stands have been returned to HKBAC however more are still required. We will continue to ask AAHK for additional however commercial congestion is also a concern for the foreseeable future.

Typhoon preparation at HKBAC 1. HKBAC have been working with operators in response to typhoon preparation. 2. AAHK and HKCAD have major concerns on the aircraft on ground particularly as so light. We are exploring measures however a “fly out” policy is urged by the authorities. As per previous meeting

  • ther members shared concerns for aircraft on ground as to avoid aircraft damage.

3. Currently there are too many aircraft on ground to space out sufficiently. Alternative airports for parking could be shared via the AsBAA platform so that members are aware of alternative options during such times as other chapters can advise nearby locations. 4. HKBAC colleagues join HASPA meetings and will seek any major updates / initiatives in regards to the COVID situation. 5. Some operational improvements have been allowed by AAHK such as fuel, engine runs and cleaning however most are currently not feasible due to the over parking situation. Cleaning issues are related to GSE available in the remote areas.

Parking options in the region: Our Platinum Business Aviation Centre FBO group have two locations for consideration for hangarage or ramp parking for aircraft who may wish to come to Australia during these unusual times.

  • Melbourne – Essendon Airport (YMEN) we offer FBO, hangarage facilities, secure ramp parking and

the ability to clean aircraft as needed if present for a prolonged period.

  • Gold Coast International Airport (YBCG) in Queensland – here we have an FBO, hanger only up to a

G450 or similar size aircraft. We currently have ample apron parking with the ability to clean aircraft as

  • needed. (Gold Coast International Airport is 50NM south of Brisbane Airport)

There are other Airport options we are able to assist your members with but felt that the facilities in Melbourne and the Gold Coast will be closer to where owners may have interests.

Parking options in the region: We are also aware that the movement of crews will need to take account of procedures to address COVID-19 regulations. As we are handling private flights routinely in today’s environment, we can and will help the crew navigate through the processes. Aircraft arriving internationally with Crew only are permitted to arrive direct into Essendon Airport. (crew visa required) The crew will need to stay at the Hyatt Hotel at Essendon until their departing flight back out of the country or for a minimum of 14 days. Aircraft arriving with approved Passengers must first clear through Melbourne Tullamarine (YMML) and passengers will be subject to a 14 day quarantine period. Gold Coast arrivals are consistent with Melbourne although we are able to process passengers if the passengers are able to fly into Australia. Again they would be subject to a quarantine period of 14 days. Up to a 20% percent discount on some services are available for AsBAA members.
