Role of the homework expectations committee is to offer recommendations to the TJ Leadership Team to ensure homework practices are meaningful and manageable.
Proposals
1. Teachers should mention assignments in class and post estimated time of completion with the assignment on Blackboard by the end of the school day. 2. Thanksgiving, winter, and spring breaks should be free of homework assignments. 3. There should be no test or quiz on the day returning back from Thanksgiving, winter, or spring break. 4. Students should have the ability to report anonymously violations of the homework policy. 5. Publish homework expectations for all courses. 6. Homework should not be assigned for a grade. 7. Teachers should state objectives for each homework assignment. 8. Students with an A in the course should not be required to submit daily homework assignments. 9. The Administration should deal directly and in a timely manner with teachers when there are violations of the homework policy, or when there are perceived problems regarding their handling of homework.
- 10. Teachers should be flexible with respect to how many and which
assignments are graded.

each class
- Staff - Eight representing the humanities,
math and science, and languages, plus one counselor
- Parents – Five parents with students in each
grade level
