THe Middle School Philosophy

At HMS, we employ a grade level team philosophy. This means that students on a specific team will all have the same 4 core (math, science, lang. arts, social studies) teachers. Benefits of teaming: ✓ Increased teacher and parent communication ✓ Better teacher and student relationships ✓ Coordination of planning and curriculum Two 6th grade teams: 61 and 62

Viking Time

Viking Time is a brief 20 minute period, similar to homeroom, where students work with an assigned teacher to take care of school initiatives, business, and work on academic and non-academic skills. Viking time builds unity in the school building, promotes Haslett pride and teaches good behaviors and work habits.
