Greenfield Registration ☺ ◼ Teachers, please follow the directions on the GRJHS Registration sheet attached to your class folder. ◼ We would like for you to hand out cards when you walk your students through Infinite Campus to select their elective choices. ◼ Parent Signature from Infinite Campus are due back to your 6 th Grade Teacher by February 27th. ◼ I will pick up on Feb 28th.

Honors Classes 6 th Grade students in ALP will automatically be placed in honors classes. ___________________________________________________________________________ • 6 th Grade ALP Math= 7 th Grade Honors Math and Honors Science __________________________________________________________________________ • 6 th Grade ALP ELA= 7 th Grade Honors English __________________________________________________________________________ ● No Honors Social Studies in 7th Grade ● 6th grade teachers fill out recommendation for Honors as well.

  6. What are the requirements to be placed in honors classes in 7 th Grade if you are not in ALP? There is no longer an honors test given at the junior high. The requirements are: ( 3 out of 4 need to be met) •Teacher Recommendation •Grades of A’s and B’s last 8 Quarters •End of Year Test- Highly Proficient •AZ Merit Score- Highly Proficient •If you do have CogAT (honors test) Scores of 90 or higher, then you can be placed in honors classes.

  12. Spanish Program at GrJHS GREENFIELD JR. HIGH is proud to offer Spanish as an Elective class that can earn you HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT! Spanish 1A is the first year of Spanish and can be taken either 7 th or 8 th grade. You can earn high school credit if you successfully take Spanish 1A in 7th AND Spanish 1B in 8th grade. Both years emphasizes conversational Spanish, basic vocabulary, and will let you explore the traditions of other cultures. Join us!. But don’t take my word for, check out my students! What will you learn? How to talk to someone in Spanish ● How to read in Spanish ● How to write in Spanish ● Study Spanish speaking cultures and ● traditions.   13. What is a Mini? 4 “mini-classes” during the school year. Each mini-class is 9 weeks long. These mini-classes are 1 elective class for the entire 7th grade year.

Mini Modern Language This is an exploratory course in the study of French , GERMAN , JAPANESE , and SPANISH with emphasis on simple conversation patterns, basic vocabulary, culture, geography, and history. The course will also compare each language and culture to our own. The languages and cultures represented in this course are those offered at high schools in GPS in order for students to explore the Foreign Language learning experience prior to making elective choices.

(listed as publications on your course card) Full-year elective for 7th and 8th graders that ● actually makes the yearbook ● Must be able to take sports pictures after school Student athletes are welcome! (coaches are ● flexible with the staff) ● We are a nationally award winning yearbook Learn skills you can actually use in the real ● world: deadline and time management, working in teams, and how to talk to almost anyone! 7th graders can be staff editors and managers ● in their 8th grade year ● A one-page application is needed

INFINITE CAMPUS PORTAL OPENS TUE, FEB. 19 • Enter Elective Classes ○ 1 Requested (most desired) ○ 2 Alternates (just in case) • Print Summary Sheet and have Parent Sign It! • Return Summary Sheet to 6 th Gr. Teacher ASAP • Summary sheet must be handed in by February 27 TH • Ms. Dietz or Ms. Prokop will come to your school to pick up summary sheets from your teachers Infinite Campus Portal CLOSES FEBRUARY 27TH

Junior High Promotion Requirements 7th Grade Requirements • Math • Social Studies • English • Science • Physical Education • Choice of ONE Elective class One half credit will be earned for each semester’s work successfully completed in each area. A maximum of 2 credits per year can be earned through successful completion of the offered electives.

  28. GrJHS Bell Schedule •First bell (warning bell) – 8:03 am, in seats by 8:08 am •Dismissal bell rings at 3:10 pm •Each class period is ~60 minutes long •Passing periods are 4 minutes long •Lunch is 30 minutes long •You will have 6 class periods
