Graduation Requirements are: 30 credits for a Manitoba High School Diploma 34 credits for a W.C. Miller Collegiate High School Diploma

Graduation Requirements for Grade 12

Most grade 11s will have 24-30 credits by June 2018. In Grade 12 there are 3 compulsory courses leaving room for 7 elective courses. Grade 12 students must have 3 credits per semester. Graduation requires students to have at least two 40S electives.

Students pursuing a grade 11 or 12 English credit will have the opportunity to select from a variety of courses. Students must choose one English credit for each of their grade 11 and grade 12 years, but may take additional credits with a maximum of one per category per year. Each ELT (Transactional Focus) course may only be taken once for credit. Literature and Comprehensive Focus courses may be taken in grade 11 and grade 12. Students are expected to take English courses at their grade level.

Career Development Internship – CDI (Application Required)

What is it? How and when do I apply?

Career Development Internship

What is CDI?

• CDI stands for Career Development

Internship.

• One credit of CDI involves:
• 75 hours of work experience which

helps to build an understanding of the work world.

• 35 hours of course work which

helps you to sort your career choices.

• Earn high school credits while you gain valuable work

experience and make contacts in the community.

• Get out of the classroom - there is no “class time” in a

CDI course!

• Complete course work at times that suit your

schedule.

Why should I take a CDI credit?

Who can take CDI?

Students must be:  Sixteen (16) years of age in Grade 11

• r 12.

 Have time in your schedule to go to work or the ability to get there after school.  Able to work independently to get your assignments finished.  Reliable, hard-working, diligent worker.

• Check with Mr. Enns for more information about including a CDI

credit in your schedule

• Here are some places where CDI students have worked:
• Classroom assistants in area schools
• Health care assistant at the Altona Community Health Center and

Eastwood Place.

• Custodian’s Assistant at a variety of locations.
• Shop/Parts assistant at Rhineland Car or Green Valley Equipment.
• Machine Operator at Friesens Corporation.
• Pharmacy Assistant
• Retail Clerk at a variety of local stores such as Sun Valley Co-op and

The Bargain Shop.

• Baker’s Assistant at Sun Valley Co-op or IGA.
• Accounting assistant or Broadcasting trainee at Golden West
