Collaborating with FamilySearch for your Ancestors

When you have an LDS-Ancestry subscription, new functionality is available to work on ancestors with FamilySearch

  • Each ancestor that you want to collaborate on with FamilySeach

needs to be ‘connected’.

  • A connection identifies the FamilySearch ID to Ancestry.com so the

interactions can be automated.

  • Interactions include LDS Ordinance Status, sharing ancestor information

between Ancestry.com and FamilySearch, and viewing the ancestor on FamilySearch.

  • When a tree is imported from FamilySearch all imported ancestors

are automatically ‘connected’.

  • Tree import is automatic for new users on signup, for users that change their

subscription you can still import from FamilySearch but it is a new tree.

  • All other ancestors must be ‘connected’ individually
slide-38
SLIDE 38

What can you do with a connected ancestor?

  • Once you have connected an ancestor to FamilySearch

the following is available from the person page.

  • Ordinance Status

− View the LDS ordinance status from FamilySearch.

  • View Ordinance Details

− This opens the ancestor on FamilySearch.org to view all the details of the LDS ordinance status.

  • Compare person on FamilySearch

− In this view the user can compare and transfer vital information between their tree on Ancestry.com and the FamilySearch tree.

  • View person on FamilySearch

− Opens the person on FamilySearch.org.

  • Add relatives from FamilySearch

− Allows the user to pull ancestors and their information from FamilySearch Tree into their Ancestry.com tree.

  • Disconnect person from FamilySearch
