Purpose

  • Support clinical and translational research
  • Join data from multiple sources for retrospective
  • Join data from multiple sources for retrospective

studies

  • Current state: Support pre‐research questions for

feasibility analysis

– Return aggregate count information across data sources sources – Show unique and common patients across data sources

  • FURTHeR went live Nov 2011, so its new.

Rationale – Cohort Finding

  • FURTHeR is focused on pre‐research cohort

finding as its first effort

  • Nationally, 60% of RCTS fail or require an

extension because of enrollment issues

  • At UU, of 726 clinical studies since 2007:

– 25% met of exceeded stated recruitment goals – 75% failed to meet original stated recruitment

  • Some of these problems are difficulties with

specifications of appropriate cohorts.

User Comments

  • This is a Game Changer.
  • This will cut 3 months off the front of my

research project.

  • This will help me with recruitment by helping

me identify new subjects on an ongoing basis.
