The potential MAT (Multi-Academy Trust) is a collaboration of three schools (Fulham Primary, Queen’s Manor and Sulivan) that have come together with the sole aim of providing the highest possible quality of education for children and their families both now and in their futures.
What is a Multi Academy Trust (MAT)?
- A MAT is a non profit making limited company registered
at Companies House; in essence it is a small business.
- It is registered as a charitable trust for the purpose of
administration.
- The MAT will have agreed articles of association stating
how it will manage its responsibilities.
- It will have a funding agreement directly with the
Department of Education.
Each school has its own identify and vision…
“Following our dreams and striving for excellence. Proud of who we are and what we can achieve together. Success for all and nurturing independent life long learners” Fulham Primary School.
“We aim to provide a nurturing place of learning, where every child achieves their potential and develops a life long love of
- learning. We want our children to develop high expectations and
aspirations for their future” Sulivan Primary School.
“Children who believe in themselves and become ambitious, self-motivated and successful learners. Children who are resilient, achieve their potential and grow into responsible and open-minded citizens, prepared for life in the real world” Queen’s Manor Primary School.
Our collective vision
We aim to become an outstanding multi-academy trust that:
- Improves opportunities and outcomes for all our
children
- Nurtures self-motivated, successful and resilient
learners
- Drives ambition and aspiration in our children
- Inspires learners with high expectations of
themselves
- Grows responsible, open-minded and caring
citizens.
Why do we want to convert?
- We want to protect the ethos and values of our
community schools.
- At the moment we have a choice about how this
happens and who this happens with.
- Government policy suggests that all schools will
become academies in the near future.
- The sum of the whole being far greater. The
key advantage of being part of the MAT is that each academy will work in partnership with one another to enable children, staff and parents to benefit from the expertise, resources, facilities and opportunities provided by all three schools.
Why Fulham, Queen’s Manor and Sulivan?
- We know our schools’ values are similar.
- We are all good schools.
- We have all worked in collaboration in the past.
- Geographically close - we all part of the
Southern Cluster.
- We have all been part of the same Local
Authority – we have shared history.
What will stay the same?
- Ethos and values
- Headteacher
- Staff
- Our school names

What will stay the same?
- Still part of the community with a local governing body
- Retain the same responsibilities as any maintained
community school
- Receive the same level of per pupil funding
- Free to work with other schools and organisations
- Still subject to Ofsted inspections
- Still subject to the law on employment, equalities,
admissions and special educational needs
- Required to follow the same rules over pupil exclusions
- Still participate in National standards and testing
What will change?
- We will be part of an independent (as yet
unnamed) Multi Academy Trust
- Governance and Trust structure
- Trust will be the employer not the Local
Authority
- Funding will come directly to the individual
school not via the Local Authority
- Greater autonomy
- Going forward there will be assimilations
between the schools and opportunities for economies of scale
