  9. Meetings • We meet on Mondays and Thursdays after school during club time (3:20-4:00). Students MUST attend both days. • It is important that we have this time to work together as a team and in small groups. Not only will we be learning how to write proper resolutions and amendments, but by debating and practicing in front of each other we can grow stronger and learn to anticipate points of order that might be asked during competition.

  10. Middle School Competitions • We plan to compete in several conferences this year: two regional, one local, and one international: – Fall 2019 • Georgia Southern University / Statesboro, GA – (Wednesday through Friday, date TBD) • Centennial High School – (day and date TBD) – Spring 2019 • Coastal Georgia College / Savannah, GA – (Wednesday through Friday, date TBD) • New York City – Early March (Wednesday through Saturday) • Students are expected to be willing and able to attend the in-state competitions, two of which will be overnight. These trips and competitions do carry their own separate fees.

  14. Middle School MUN in New York City • The International Model UN Conference is tentatively scheduled to take place in early March in New York City. • The New York trip is limited to 10 students. • Students will interview for one of the available slots. • We will do our best to estimate the cost of airfare, hotel, and other fees ahead of time so that families can decide if this is something they would like to plan for.

  15. Academic Teams Policies and Procedures • Students may apply for membership in a maximum of two Academic Teams. • Selection for membership on an Academic Team is based on academic performance, prior experience, potential, commitment, and enthusiasm. Selection for a team will be at the discretion of the head coaches. Not all students will be accepted. • Acceptance on an Academic Team does not guarantee a spot in any or all competitions. Rosters for competitions are at the discretion of the head coach. In all cases, FSAPS will place team success over individual placement.
