  • 4 credits of English

Competency Requirements

  • Tests take place in ELA II, Algebra I, *Geometry, Biology,

American History, and Government.

  • Tests are given online during April/May during the school

year in which that subject is taken.

  • Must have proficient scores in Algebra I and ELA II.
  • Students must complete a mandatory English Enrichment and/
  • r Math Enrichment remedia1on prior to retake in that test

area.

  • Retakes are offered in December and April for

sophomores-seniors.

  • If students do not earn a proficient score in ELA II

and/or Algebra I a\er ini1al a]empt/retakes, they must meet one of the following alterna1ve pathways: – Earn college credit in that subject area; OR – Commit to a branch of the armed forces; OR – Show career readiness through a program at Tri Rivers Career Center.

  • All students must earn 2 diploma seals. At

least one seal must be an Ohio issued seal.

  • Some seals are based on scores from other

state tes1ng (Biology, American History, Government).

  • Local seals are based on community service,

enrollment in fine arts courses, or par1cipa1on in extra curricular ac1vi1es.

General Scheduling Informa1on

  • School day is the same length as the MS.
  • 7:30am-2:15pm
  • Plan to schedule 7-8 classes.
  • 7 classes if you want a study hall, 8 classes

if you do not want a study hall.

  • Students may not have more than one

study hall unless they have approval via an IEP/504.

fewer grades, more study 1me required), responsibility, work load.

  • Grades are included on the HS & college

transcript.

  • Lose explora1on 1me in college if all general ed.

course failed or withdrawn. ($350-$600 or more)

  • Otherwise known as the GPS program.
  • Aimed at incoming freshmen.
  • Targets 6 pathways:

– Associate’s of Arts or Science Degree – Cer1ficate of Exercise Science, Medical Assis1ng, Business Administra1on, Robo1cs, and pathway for Criminal Jus1ce/Law Enforcement – Developing pathways in Associate’s of Electrical Engineering Technology and Mechanical Engineering Technology Degree

Difference between CCP & GPS

  • CCP

– Not bound to a specific pathway (but can be). – No set schedule for when to take courses. – Advisor is @ MTC and students must contact them for appointments.

  • GPS

– Follows a specific pathway to earn a degree or cer1ficate. – Courses are laid out per year star1ng fresh. yr. – MTC advisor works closely with students and contact is frequent. – Addi1onal designa1on for the GPS program.

  • Students can avoid taking PE by par1cipa1ng

in an OHSAA sanc1oned sport, marching band, cheerleading, or show choir for TWO full seasons (years in terms of show choir).

are simply excused from having to complete the course.
