  1. Flow Bindings v03 draft-ietf-mext-flow-binding-03.txt George Tsirtsis Hesham(ed.), Nicolas, Gerardo, Koojana July 2009 IETF-75 (Stockholm)

  2. Main Diff v02  v03 • TSV Directorate Review – Added stronger health warning wording against per packet load balancing due to its potential effects on TCP (end of Section 2) • PRO (Processing field) removed: – Deemed redundant – ADD/MODIFY processing is implied by the value of FID • If receiver does not have state on incoming FID then this is an ADD • If receiver does have state on incoming FID then this is a MODIFY

  3. Main Diff v02  v03 • Action field values reduced – Now only “Discard” and “n - cast” – “Forward” is implemented as “n - cast” with only one BID – I would prefer to call this “Forward” again with 1+ BIDs • “Forward” associated with single BID is normal unicast forwarding • “Forward” associated with multiple BIDs is n -casting • FID-PRI field clarified – now requires a unique value per entry – Authors still think this is unnecessary (oh well!) • Many editorial/clarifications/bug-fixes etc by many online and offline reviews (thanks!)

  4. Upcoming changes in v04 • Terminology – More strictly adopt flow definition from RFC2460 • “a sequence of packets sent from a particular source to a particular (unicast or multicast) destination for which the source desires special handling by the intervening routers” – Use “flow” for single flow, “flow(s)” for aggregates – Use “Traffic Selector” instead of “Flow Description” • Rename “n - cast” to “forward” (as discussed earlier) • Bug-fix – Section 5.3.2.1 needs to be cleaned up from references to PRO field and ”Forward” action Ready for WG LC
