Dear Mr. Hagerman, Ms. Roper and Mr. Daniel, Last year, when my parents found out there was a finance class at Blankner Elementary School they where very excited. I, on the other hand, was not. At that point in time, I would have much rather taken study hall or art for my elective. My parents forced me to join the class. Both of my parents have careers in the financial field. They explained to me that they did not expect me to also have a career in finance. However, that whatever I decided to do in my life, I would always need to know how to manage my money. After spending the last 7 months in Mr. Hagerman's finance class, I can honestly say that not only do I enjoy the class but I am good at it. The finance class has helped me to see the potential of my future and this has helped me to do better in all my classes. I have been on the honor roll every semester so far this year- - which is a first for me. In addition, Mr. Daniel’s gave my class the "senior" finance test. Mr. Hagerman said not to worry if we only get a few questions right - - its just to see how well we could do. To my surprise, I got an 80% on the "senior" finance test.
I tell you all this to show you that I am an example of someone who
would benefit and do well in the Boone Finance Magnet program. This time around, my parents are not pushing me. I am pushing myself. I did sign up for the Boone Magnet Program, however, I didn't get in. I do understand there will be a lottery. I don't know if I will make the lottery or even if there are any slots left. I wanted to write you this letter, for whatever it’s worth, to let you know - - if given the opportunity, I will work really hard in the Boone Finance Magnet program because this is something I truly want Sincerely, Tara Helena Brown – 8th Grade
