SomVallBas is a collaborative project launched by the Vall d’en Bas town hall council and Can Trona, the Department of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Smithsonian’s Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage (Washington, DC) that investigates the creativity and cultural diversity in the Vall d’en Bas. The project aims to strengthen all the cultural expressions of the municipality in order to reinforce its sense of identity. #femvallbas #somvallbas

Fieldwork

  • Team:

 11 full-time  8 part-time  4 people from the town hall

  • Students from the degree in Anthropology of the

Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, master's students from Heritage program at Universitat de Girona

  • Three workshops in preparation: April, June and July
  • Elders within the community, route of distribution of the

local newsletter of La Vall Bull, suggestions from the community

  • 892 first phone calls:

 146 negative  152 did not understand the project  594 positive

  • The percentage of success fluctuates between 73% and

42%.
