From a Marianist Community of student brothers open to visitors for Sunday Eucharist, Queen of Apostles Community emerged as a non-territorial parish on August 28, 1973. Continuing in the tradition of the Marianist Charism, we come together each week as a family of Catholic, Christian believers, to worship our God in the Eucharist with song & praise and to share in the breaking of the Bread. In so doing, we proclaim our willingness to build a community of love and to be the holy people God calls us to be. If you are visiting and worshipping with us for the first time, we extend to you our warmest

  • welcome. Our prayer is that your worship experience will be uplifting and Spirit filled.

We hope you will visit us often and worship with us! (If you‟d like more information about us or would like to join our Community, please fill out the form on the back cover and drop it in the collection basket!) NOTE: If the form on the back is missing, email qacohio@sbcglobal.net with your name, phone number, address and we‟ll contact you about joining us.

Marianist Doxology May the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places through the Immaculate Virgin Mary.

Feast of the Presentation of the Lord Presider.............................Fr. Callistus Jeje, S.M. Assisting............................Deacon Greg Cecere Liturgy Planners…………..Jeanne Holcomb Music Director…………….Teesie Chandler ....... Interpreter for the Deaf......Brenda Brunette Malachi 3:1-4: The Epiphany marked Jesus‘ manifestation to the Gentile nations, but on this day Jesus is manifest among his own people as the fulfillment of their messianic hopes. So, in effect, today is another sort of Epiphany. Hebrews 2:14-18: In coming to faith, one may encounter many stumbling blocks. One of the largest of those obstacles can be the humanity of Jesus, and especially the suffering he

  • endures. Early converts had to struggle with the notion that Jesus was human like us, a mortal

subject to the unavoidable suffering and death of earthly life. As always, the ways of God are not

  • ur ways and the Lord chose the very path tat human sense would banish.

Luke 2:22-40: Jesus is presented in the Temple where a sprit-filled man recognizes him as the fulfillment of Malachi‘s prophecy. Simeon alludes to Isaiah‘s second song of the Suffering Servant when he speaks of Jesus as a ―light for...the Gentiles.‖ Given his own prophecy that he will soon share, the Servant allusion is very apt and begins the process of turning our focus from the manager to ward the hill of Calvary. Eucharistic Minister Team #1 Ministers Taking Eucharist to Those Not With Us Presider: Let us send these ministers to those who could not be with us. Response: Receive the Body of Christ for the nourishment of those who are not here with

  • us. Assure our friends of our prayers and blessings throughout the week.

  • ST. BLASE AND THE BLESSING OF THROATS: The blessing of St. Blase, also known as the

blessing of throats, is a special blessing in which the faithful invoke the saint‘s intercession, asking him to protect them from ailments of the throat and every other illness. Priests, deacons, and even lay ministers provide the blessing of throats on this feast. Saint Blase was known for his ability to heal both people and animals. Tradition says that a mother brought her son, who was choking to death on a fishbone, to the bishop. The blessing of throats is related to the saint‘s healing of the boy who was choking.

I looked like an idiot when I got on the bus that morning! EVER WONDER... Why do supermarkets make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front? Why do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke? Why do banks leave vault doors open and then chain the pens to the counters? Why do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in our driveways and put our useless junk in the garage? Why don't you ever see the headline 'Psychic Wins Lottery'? Why is it that doctors and attorneys call what they do 'practice'? Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food? Why didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes? You know that indestructible black box that is used on airplanes? Why don't they make the whole plane out of that stuff? Why don't sheep shrink when it rains? Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together? If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?
