  • Create opportunities for kids to take risks. Design should encourage ease of programming.

Natural/ adventure play was widely endorsed as was imaginative play.

  • Embankment slides were endorsed. Integrated, programmed slope creates strong play

experience.

  • Existing Pin Oaks must stay.
  • There aren’t other splash pads or swings in the vicinity. A variety of swings will improve play
  • experience. Baby swings are essential.
  • Maintenance issues with sand/ sand with water. Alternative tactile play materials should be

considered.

  • Keep the play area away from South Street as possible.
  • Play features on multiple levels is preferred.
  • Stadium seating in the middle of the embankment play area can serve as a “Home Base”.
  • Natural vegetation inside the play area offers imaginative play, visual buffer from courts.
  • Boulders can create great creative play opportunity and a separation of areas.
  • Picnic space under the existing oak trees makes a lot of sense. Viewing/ gathering area as a

connection between the playground and the rest of the park was widely endorsed.

  • Ping Pong tables were endorsed over adult exercise equipment.
  • Existing 5-12 yr. play equipment will look tired and need repair within the next few years if
  • retained. Possible relocation elsewhere.
  • A perimeter path should be considered to make better use of park edges.
