- Create opportunities for kids to take risks. Design should encourage ease of programming.
Natural/ adventure play was widely endorsed as was imaginative play.
- Embankment slides were endorsed. Integrated, programmed slope creates strong play
experience.
- Existing Pin Oaks must stay.
- There aren’t other splash pads or swings in the vicinity. A variety of swings will improve play
- experience. Baby swings are essential.
- Maintenance issues with sand/ sand with water. Alternative tactile play materials should be
considered.
- Keep the play area away from South Street as possible.
- Play features on multiple levels is preferred.
- Stadium seating in the middle of the embankment play area can serve as a “Home Base”.
- Natural vegetation inside the play area offers imaginative play, visual buffer from courts.
- Boulders can create great creative play opportunity and a separation of areas.
- Picnic space under the existing oak trees makes a lot of sense. Viewing/ gathering area as a
connection between the playground and the rest of the park was widely endorsed.
- Ping Pong tables were endorsed over adult exercise equipment.
- Existing 5-12 yr. play equipment will look tired and need repair within the next few years if
- retained. Possible relocation elsewhere.
- A perimeter path should be considered to make better use of park edges.
