BAYS Coach ID Update

  • Coaches must have completed these 3 MA Youth Soccer requirements:

Registered and confirmed in Stack Sports, approved valid photo uploaded, approved CORI status. Once coaches have met those 3 conditions, registrars can list them on a BAYS team roster. Coaches also need to fulfill the Abuse Training and Concussion Training requirements but there will be some leeway on completing this due to those systems being bottlenecked.

  • Coaches must bring a government issued photo ID or a picture of that photo on ID on their

phone to the fields with them.

  • Prior to kickoff at every game, referees will ask ALL coaches on the sidelines to show them

a government issued photo ID or a picture of a government issued ID on their phone, which will then be matched against the coach names listed on the roster.

  • Only coaches who have a valid ID and are listed on a team roster will be allowed on the

sideline with the kids.

If a team has a substitute coach for a game and the coach is not listed on that team's roster, the coach must be listed on a valid roster from another team in that club, show the referee that roster, and show the referee a government issued photo ID or a picture of a government issued ID on their phone.

  • NO Credential Lanyard or Coaches Card will be required at this time.
  • This plan will be in effect until further notice. Basically, we need to wait until the Safe

Soccer program and CDC head injury training websites, as well as the ability to print the required MYSA lanyard credential, function without undue delay before implementing those requirements.

Communication and Game Day

  • Communicate with your team during the week on specifics of game time /

  • Equal playing time policy for all teams (see WUSC website)
  • Coaches responsible for behavior of parents, communicate Zero Tolerance

to parents

  • Check on color conflicts, pinnies available to borrow from Sue

Curriculum

We recommend that all practice sessions follow the S.C.O.R.E. method:

  • SIMPLE. Stick to one theme during your practice session. Choose 2 or 3 core

coaching points and reinforce them throughout the session.

  • CHALLENGING. Ensure that the players are posed problems that they need to

find solutions to. Provide guidance and help when they need it.

  • ORGANISED. Plan every detail of your session - how many players, space and
  • equipment. Ensure that your sessions have the appropriate pace and

progression to challenge all of your players.

  • RELEVANT. Ensure that the exercises in your session are relevant to the game.
  • ENJOYABLE. The players should walk away from every practice having

thoroughly enjoyed the session and learning at least one new aspect of the game. WUSC Curriculums, available online, are coach login and password protected

Goal & Net Safety

  • Always inspect goals before each match and/or practice.
  • Always ensure goals are secured with sand bags on back bar or sidebars

– 9v9 min 1 sand bag on back bar – 11v11 2 sand bags on back bar – 7v7 grass field goals do not need sand bags

  • Never allow anyone to climb or play on the goal or net
  • Never allow anyone to hang on the goal crossbar (e.g. chin-ups)
  • Movable goals should only be used on level (flat) fields.
  • Instruct players on safe handling and potential dangers associated with

movable goals.

– Coaches and/or parents should move goals; not youth players – When moving wheels should be rotated to allow easy moving. When in place replace wheels so frame contacts ground. – Push when ever possible, do not pull goals – Do not move with sand bags on back bar however replace sand bags when moved

Fall Tryouts

This year we are changing the way we do tryouts by having one tryout for each season. The first one will be in the Fall with the second coming in the Spring. This will give the players a better opportunity to showcase their skills and help with the scheduling for the Spring.

  • Tryouts to run in a two week period (Mon, Wed, Fri and Sat).

Each tryout will run 1 hour 30 minutes

  • Independent evaluators will be used

The information we collect from you as coaches will also change to make it easier for you and to give us better data on our

  • players. Look out for this in the coming weeks
