Finding: QA of recognition procedures is not very well developed at the HEIs participating in FAIR Recommendation: Familiarise HEIs with ESG 1.4 and support a national discussion

An information management system (for recognition decisions and processing times) is a prerequisite for establishing a quality assurance procedure; Feedback from faculties and programme directors on their recognition decisions and on the performance of foreign students should be provided in a systematic way to the admissions office, in order to fine-tune the requirements for students with foreign qualifications;

European recommendations on QA

Define key performance indicators for admissions and recognition procedures, in line with revised ESG standard 1.4 Examples:

  • Turnaround time of applications;
  • Consistency of recognition decisions;
  • Communication of substantial differences;
  • Transparency of the recognition process;
  • Success rate of foreign students;
  • Cooperation with other national partners and ENIC/NARIC.
