Club Structure and Roles

  • Elected Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Volunteer Co-ordinator
  • Co-opted Committee Members
  • Other roles – Membership Sec, Welfare Officers, Social Sec, Team managers, Officials and of

course coaches and helpers. These are not all roles that require you to be on the committee.

  • We need the members and parents to get involved in whatever way they can. Never assume

someone else is doing a job so you are not needed. You are.

  • We organise three races each year which are the Ivybridge 10K in May, The Erme Valley relays in

July and the Hanger Up and Down in September. We always get great support for these events from the members but could still do with more.

  • We have a club Development plan which is currently under review.
  • We welcome feedback from all members and parents, the club is run for you all and we seek to

provide a well structured club for all to provide coaching and competition for all our athletes in a safe and enjoyable way within the rules and recommendations of our governing body.

  • In return we expect everyone to represent the club with pride and respect for other competitors

and to endeavour to take part in suitable competitions for the club when ever offered.

Why do clubs lose volunteers...

  • 66% leave for personal reasons

(family, work, education)

  • 34% leave for system reasons

(lack of support / opportunities) We are fortunate that we have some key people who do a lot but they are getting older and will need to be replaced.
