This week: LBNC meeting
5
- LBNC Meeting held at Fermilab, 4-6 March
- Presentations on ProtoDUNE-SP/DP operations and analysis, Near Detector
Status, Computing, Reconstruction.
- Presented impressive progress on all these topics

Path towards CD2
6
- Schedule and scope to be finalized during the CD2 baselining
process, in the second half of 2020.
- Challenge to stay within the total envelope of $2.6B for the total
project cost (TPC).
- Also need to reduce uncertainty (e.g., due to international
contributions, NSF funding for APAs etc.).
- Announcement of Hyper-K has further underlined the
importance of building a competitive experiment, achieving P5 physics goals on the shortest possible time scale.
- We work with DOE and all international partners to balance
these requirements.

Effort Reporting - 2019
- Effort Reporting for 2018 (”beta release”) had some weaknesses due to lack of
some important topics and consistent “FTE” reporting; corrected for this year.
- We also hope that we have created enough topics to capture the effort that
has been on-going over the past year – balancing granularity and completeness.
- We will be updating the list of activities annually to best match the activities of
the collaboration – balancing granularity and completeness.
- IB Representatives work with their institute members to collect accurate data
and get it entered into the database by March 1, 2020:

ProtoDUNE Analysis
10
- Implementing the LBNC recommendation, we have created an
integrated ProtoDUNE SP/DP analysis group structure.
- Single-phase conveners:
- Tingjun Yang (Fermilab), Georgios Christodoulou (CERN)
- Dual-phase conveners:
- Jaime Dawson (APC Paris), Slavic Galymov (IPNL)
- Analysis groups have alternating joint and separate meetings.
- All collaborators are encouraged to contribute – contact conveners

”Claiming” papers (e.g. TDR)
13
1. Go to INSPIRES (not beta version) https://inspirehep.net/ 2. Click on HEPNAMES 3. Search for your profile, e.g. ’find a Einstein, A.’ 4. Click on your ‘Author Profile’ 5. Click on ‘Manage Publications’ 6. Scroll through your publications and click on ‘yes, this paper is by this person’ for all relevant papers (you can do this in bulk). 7. You can also unassign papers if they are not yours. 8. Then confirm. This will allow you to claim the papers and link to your ORCID.

Near Detector Organization
The EB has endorsed the formation of three new Consortia:
1.
Liquid-argon TPC
- Based on ArgonCube concept
2.
Multipurpose Detector
- Magnetized gas argon spectrometer, Calorimeter, Muon system
3.
Beam Monitor
- On-axis Beam Monitor based on SAND design using the KLOE magnet
and calorimeter, and 3DST/tracker. Each consortium will have a CL (represented on EB/TB) and a TL (represented on TB) In addition, we create a ND DAQ Task Force which will explore the future structure (Common FD/ND DAQ Consortium vs. separate consortia). The NDDG will remain in place for the time being, in a modified form, which includes the new consortia leadership teams. The creation of the consortia and the appointment of the CLs/TLs proceeds in the same way as for the FD consortia.

- Next steps
- CDR in April 2020 (Editors: Steven Manly and Mike Kordosky)
- ArgonCube 2x2 demonstrator à ProtoDUNE-ND (at Bern and
FNAL)
- Call for ND Consortium EOIs has gone out, deadline March 6.
- NDDG will continue in modified form to provide coordination of effort
through TDR.
- Possible IDR in autumn 2020 (preliminary design level, as required
for near site CD-2 in US)
- TDR about 1 year after IDR
