Large number of students assigned an "F" grade, but the last known academic activity date
Many students who could have been dropped and earned an F grade, and those who could have been withdrawn and earned an F grade. Impact on students' academic standing and progress

If a student receives an F grade, it’s possible they won’t meet SAP status Not meeting SAP results in not receiving FA The FA appeal process isn't fun Not dropping students may result in students losing aid and needing to appeal.
While the student is appealing they are not receiving aid and may not be able to purchase books, food, basic needs This puts a student at a disadvantage at the start of a new semester Not dropping the student results in the student receiving an F which then may cause the student to not meet SAP and lose all their FA. Not dropping the student causes unnecessary burden of losing aid and needing to appeal.

Faculty are required to clear rosters of inactive enrollment as of the census date. Faculty are required to either drop students or click the "No Drops to Report" button on or before the census date indicating that the roster has been cleared of inactive enrollment.
It is the student’s responsibility to drop all classes in which he/she is no longer participating (for online classes). It is the student’s responsibility to drop all classes in which he/she is no longer attending (for on campus classes). It is the instructor’s discretion to withdraw a student after the add/drop deadline (include date) due to excessive absences. Students who remain enrolled in a class beyond the published withdrawal deadline, as stated in the class schedule, will receive an evaluative letter grade in this class (A, B, C, D, F)
