The piece of wood is a cover off a crate with approx dimensions 80cm x 60 cm x 7mm thick.

Crane operator noticed what looked to be a loose section of packing case wood on top of the crate. Once outside the 500m zone inspection showed it to be a section of packing case timber

  • approx. 25mm x 75mm x 700mm long with six exposed nail ends some 40mm long.

The crane was lifting a heavy lift - 12.7 tonnes from our deck, on the way up he bumped into our

  • uter rail, on port aft, so it broke. The ship was pitching/heaving due to some swell, but within

working limits, The crane operator had miscalculated the distance of the lift & and movement of the ship.
