Approximately 8 children and young people suicide every week in Australia. Every week headspace responds to around 5 suicide notifications from Australian schools. Since 2006 suicides in children and young people have increased by 36%. In 2015 suicide was the leading cause of death of children 5-17 years of age. Headspace operates 95 centres across Australia.
