The Dobermann 2 is an agile and very fast wing, targeted at EXPERIENCED COMPETITION AND SLALOM PARAMOTOR PILOTS, who also want a comfortable and safe glider. It also provides excellent glide effjciency and a wide speed range, which are very valuable characteristics for freestyle and recreational pilots. The Dobermann 2 is FASTER, STEADIER and TURNS EVEN BETTER than the Dobermann. It is now available in larger sizes which are more appropriate for freestyle and leisure fmights.

The market share of paramotors is growing steadily in the paragliding industry. According to fjgures provided by the PMA (Paragliding Manufacturers Association), PPG gliders represent 12% of the total retail market. Looking more closely at the fjgures, we can estimate that the slalom competition / freestyle models represent around 14% of the total PPG gliders sold around the world. Despite PPG being a niche market with limited impact on sales, products like the Dobermann 2 are an excellent marketing tool to promote the brand. Our presence in top level competitions, as well as being part of the world’s finest group of PPG pilots, help us spread the word; mainly by communicating the benefits of being part of the competition scene (perseverance, innovation, performance…) to the glider itself and also the rest of the range.

INNOVATION

The Niviuk R&D team use computational fmuid dynamics (CFD) simulation methods to study the aerodynamics of the wing and analyse its behaviour in various air fmow conditions. Nonetheless, all our gliders are always tested and exposed to real life conditions by our test pilots to guarantee the best product outcome before manufacturing begins.

Using CFD is key to testing and finding the perfect balance between high speed, stability and turning.

TECHNOLOGY

The use of the Nitinol offers three major advantages: 1- It helps to reduce the overall wing weight, hence inertia is reduced and handling improved. 2- It has shape memory and super-elasticity. The fmexible rods always return to their functional optimal shape, therefore no bends, kinks or residual mechanical alterations affect their integrity; the wing’s profjle retains its shape as a result. 3- Using Nitinol makes the leading edge more robust. The wing’s surface is perfectly taut, crease-free and without parasitic fabric movements; therefore assisting glide in all fmight phases. The RAM provides optimised internal pressure for better airfmow; this means the glider is more compact at any angle of attack and at all trim

  • settings. It also reduces the risk of a collapse, while bringing better

control and stability to the overall structure. Moreover, the RAM improves the turbulence buffering ability of the wing.

TECHNOLOGY

The refmex profjle of the Dobermann 2 was designed to provide suffjcient stability without negatively affecting glide or speed. The Dobermann 2’s optimised profjle design enables a perfect combination of control and performances.

Dobermann

By default, the DES keeps the trimmers in a closed position (slow speed setting) and opens them when accelerating during the fmight. When the speed bar is released, the DES returns the profjle to the neutral (default) position. The Dobermann 2 is fjtted with the DES, allowing pilot to make the most of the glider’s ability to perform to its maximum potential when using the speed bar.

TECHNOLOGY

The latest generation of gliders requires a new pattern design and an optimised fabric cutting process. The new leading edge arrangement means each cell panel must be manufactured individually in accordance with the fjnal wing layout positioning, resulting in a crease-free surface with better fabric tension. An

  • ptimised process is used to cut the fabric in a specifjc

directional angle, depending on each panel’s fjnal location. If the cloth pattern is correctly oriented with the load axis, the material is deformed to a minor degree to benefjt the aerodynamic properties of the leading edge. Adding an extra seam to the leading edge on the span axis of the glider assists in shaping a compact 3D profjle and to have better connection with the new 3DP front panel’s layout. When sewn together, the fabric pattern orientation and panel positioning are taken into account to avoid creases and ultimately to obtain a perfect load distribution. As a result, the glider profjle is cleaner, which benefjts performance and durability.

FEATURES AND DETAILS

AEROFOIL DESIGN LINE PLAN

Both the profjle and the aerofoil designs were optimised for higher speed and better turning effjciency. High effjciency profjle for higher top speed. Arched canopy for improved roll. With shorter lines the pilot is closer to the wing, making it possible to obtain a tighter turning radius and effortless handling. In case of a wingtip collapsing, the very precise stabilo line trimming makes this part of the glider roll inside instead of folding back for an immediate recovery.

FEATURES AND DETAILS

STEERING SYSTEM WITH AERODYNAMIC TIP

Aerodynamic tip: simple and efficient The Aerodynamic tip of the Dobermann 2 provides the pilot with a simple and effjcient tool to turn easily without pulling the brake toggle. One line goes out from the handle to a critical point of the wing tip. This specifjc connecting location prevents creases and any negative effect on the trailing edge

  • r the refmex profjle, as this could compromise both

performance and safety. Double steering system The Dobermann 2’s brake handle has two lines: the main brake and the aerodynamic tip. The aerodynamic tip allows the pilot to turn without pulling the brake, avoiding profjle deformation and, as a result, a decrease of speed and

  • performance. This aerodynamic tip can be easily activated.
