regulate importation

agricultural commodities into Brunei Darussalam in order to safeguard plant and livestock industries, public health and environment against the introduction of the following into the country:

  • Animal infectious diseases and zoonotic disease
  • Plant pests and disease

 Act as Competent Authority (CA) for issuance of Veterinary Health

Certificate and Phytosanitary Certificate for export purposes.

 To regulate exportation of agricultural commodities following import

requirements of the importing country including issuance of Veterinary Health certificate and Phytosanitary Certificate.

 Inspection may include:  verification of the latest relevant laboratory analysis results

from samples of the export consignment;

Issuance of Certificate / Export Permit

 Ready for export.  The certificate will only represent inspected consignments

according to the identification or batch number/code provided in the application form and as stated in the certificate.

 Validity of the certificate depends on the results of inspection

and the requirements set by the importing country.

 The Phytosanitary or Veterinary Health Certificate can only be

used for the consignment stated in the certificate.

SUMMARY

 Department of Agriculture & Agrifood is the competent

authority (CA) regulating importation and exportation of agriculture commodities in Brunei Darussalam.

 Importers and exporters are to comply to the regulations

and procedures set by the competent authority.

 The main objective of the regulations and procedures

are to safeguard plant and livestock industries, public health and environment against the introduction of any exotic diseases and pests from plant and animal commodities.
