Diesel Emission Reduction Act (DERA)

What is DERA?

• Authorized in 2005 - U.S. Energy Policy Act
• Congress appropriates funding (annually)

for diesel emission reduction projects

• Funding used to retrofit or replace
• lder/higher emitting diesel engines
• Funding is broken into multiple pools –

majority goes to state allocated programs
