The early settlers needed to live near resources, and therefore lived in certain areas of the United

While this was an exciting time for our country, there was a difference in culture among the settlers. Different groups of people were coming together from various countries, and they did not always get along. However, because these cultures came together we have diversity in our country. Culture- The way of a life of a group of people. It includes things such as language, sports, clothing, and food Diversity- To have influences from many different cultures

Your culture is sometimes related to where you live, and what customs are practiced in the community you live in. But most importantly, it comes from your family and where they are from! Most of us in our school were born here in America, but we still have culture from the countries our ancestors came from.

As people were settling, they did not just come to the United States. They also settled in the surrounding areas of North America including Canada and the Caribbean. Some of the first countries to settle in the continent were Spain, France and England.

As the population grew, people started moving to different regions
settlers created communities, and eventually states. Each region of the United States is thought to have it’s own culture, but the diversity of the people in each region challenges it.

Social Studies: State Project Your job will be to choose a state and share what you learn with the class. You can share what you learn through creating a commercial, making a poster, creating a brochure about the state, writing an essay about it, or any other fun way you think of! Have fun with it and be creative with how you share your knowledge.

It is time to take all you know and put it together! You can type up your answers, make a poster and take a picture, create a brochure, make a commercial, record yourself talking about the state, the choice is yours! Make sure you have all the questions answered using the format you choose. Your project is due by Wednesday (04/22) to your teacher. There is a rubric attached to the assignment on Teams, so make sure you check to see you have everything you need. Please e-mail me if you have any questions!
