  • The one-time cost = $138,000 + Sales Tax. Due to the anticipated long life span of the vehicle (due to

expected low mileage) staff is recommending utilization of public safety impact fees for the acquisition of the vehicle.

  • Ongoing maintenance and replacement costs will be incorporated into the annual department
  • perating budget.

Recommendation

  • 1. Authorize the purchase of an armored rescue vehicle; and
  • 2. Approve budget adjustment allocating one time use of public safety impact fees for the acquisition;

and

  • 3. Direct the Independent Police Auditor to review and provide feedback on a departmental vehicle use

policy to be developed by the Police Chief prior to vehicle deployment.
