  2. Goals of Contact Tracing • Rapidly identify all persons with close contact to a confirmed or probable COVID-19 positive case. • Ensure all close contacts identified are notified and directed to self-quarantine and monitor for symptoms. 2

  4. Steps of Contact Tracing 1. Department of Health (DOH) is notified of a positive case. 2. DOH investigator interviews the case to determine the infectious period and who they may have been in close contact with during the infectious period. 3. DOH investigator notifies all contacts of their exposure and instructs them to quarantine for 14 days after their last date of exposure. 4. Quarantined contacts are monitored daily through phone or text message to determine if they develop symptoms. 4

Definitions: Infectious Period Cases are considered infectious starting 48 hours before symptom onset and until: At least 10 days have passed since symptom onset and • At least 24 hours have passed since resolution of fever without • the use of fever-reducing medications and Other symptoms have improved. • *If asymptomatic, use the date of the test instead of symptom onset. 5

Brief interactions are less likely to result in transmission; • however, symptoms and the type of interaction (e.g., did the infected person cough directly into the face of the exposed individual) remain important. 7
