OBU Efforts / Transit Signal Priority (TSP)

  • Valley Transportation

Authority (VTA) and Caltrans joint venture

  • Buses on Route 22 will

be equipped with OBUs that will send the SRM to RSU

  • TSP is conditional. The

RSU will give priority based on predefined policy.

OBU Efforts / Bus on Shoulder

  • Implementation in progress on SR-94 west of highway

805.

  • Sand Diego Metro buses will be equipped with OBUs to

communicate with the On-Ramp RSU to hold the traffic while the bus passes the conflict zone.

  • OBUs have been installed on the busses.
  • RSU design is complete.
  • Ramp controller software upgrade is in process.
  • The system will work only at the commute times or if the

traffic on the GP lanes is running below the 35 MPH.
